〜Highly Evaluated for the Concept of Using Citizen-Taken Infrastructure Photo Data for Maintenance Inspections〜
Greenway Grid Global Pte. Ltd. (Headquarters: Singapore, President: Kazuhiko Shiba, hereinafter “GGG”), Digital Entertainment Asset Pte. Ltd., (Headquarters: Singapore, Founder & CEO: Naohito Yoshida, Founder & Co-CEO: Kozo Yamada, hereinafter “DEA”), and TEPCO Power Grid (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President: Yoshinori Kaneko, hereinafter “TEPCO PG”) are pleased to announce that their collaboratively developed participatory social contribution game “PicTrée – Grid Grab: Capture the Current” (hereinafter “PicTrée”) has won the “2024 Good Design Award,” hosted by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion.
“PicTrée” is a participatory social contribution game aimed at realizing a sustainable society by utilizing gamification to help solve the challenges faced by infrastructure companies.Players are divided into three teams and take photos of power assets such as utility poles and manholes. While competing to measure the length of connected power lines, they assist in the maintenance of local infrastructure through the game. As a result, it helps in social contributions, such as the early detection of equipment anomalies.
The concept of utilizing infrastructure photos taken within the game for maintenance inspections and its innovation has been highly praised.
“PicTrée” is currently conducting a pilot test in the Chiyoda, Chuo, and Minato wards of Tokyo until the end of November 2024. Through this test, we will evaluate the effectiveness of infrastructure photos collected via the app, as well as their potential use in maintenance, safety inspections, and other related tasks. At the same time, we are working to improve the quality of the content and exploring the diversification of services, including expanding the scope of application.
※ “Power assets” refer to the collective term for equipment owned by TEPCO PG, such as utility poles and transmission towers.
The service that allows citizens to take photos of infrastructure such as utility poles to assist companies with maintenance is a fresh and interesting idea. As the design becomes more unified and refined in the future, it is expected to enhance the overall quality of the service.

All team members believed in the potential of PicTrée and kept moving forward, which led to us receiving this prestigious award. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the PicTrée fans, all related parties, and every member of the PicTrée team.
We will take this award as motivation to pursue further innovation and improvement as a sustainable social contribution app.
I am truly honored to receive the Good Design Award. PicTrée is a new initiative that merges social contribution with entertainment, and I have aimed to involve as many people as possible. This award is a result of the dedication of my entire team and the support of everyone involved. We will continue to work towards creating a world where “play generates rewards and improves society.”
“PicTrée” is a team-based “team battle game” where players are divided into teams to photograph electric assets, such as utility poles and manholes, found in their surroundings. The competition is based on the amount and distance of the photographed electric assets.
Players choose one of three teams—”Ampere,” “Volt,” or “Watt”—to join and participate in the game as a team member. In the game, players perform actions such as “check-in” and “photograph” electric assets like utility poles. And players can “Connect” the photographed utility poles to earn points. The total points of each team determine the rankings among the three teams.
Based on their performance in the game, players can earn rewards such as Amazon gift cards and DEAPcoin (DEP). Additionally, at the end of each season, which lasts for a certain period, there is an opportunity to earn team rewards based on the team rankings.
